Boyhood is a digital SFW charity zine featuring over 30 contributors focusing on Touya Todoroki's life from birth to the age of 13.As of July 7, 2022, this project is now complete and a donation of $502 has been made to Prevent Child Abuse America. See our finance sheet for receipts and additional information.
What charity are you donating to?
Prevent Child Abuse America! Is previous zine experience required to apply?
No! Everyone has to have their first zine and you will not be turned down if you’ve never been a part of one before. Will you only accept big accounts?
No! Popularity is not a factor when picking applicants. No matter how big or small your follower count is, everyone stands an even chance. How many contributors will be accepted?
Up to 20-25 artists, 10 writers, and 3 merch artists. Can we apply for more than one position?
Yes, but you'll only be accepted for one. Will you make this a physical zine?
No, this zine will strictly be digital only.Do we have to give our real names in our applications?
No, whatever name you choose to be credited as is up to you and we won't pry for your personal information. Can we include the rest of the Todoroki family in our work?
Of course! While Touya should be the centric character, his childhood certainly includes his family (for better or worse) so feel free to have them in your works. Are AUs allowed?
No. All works must be canon compliant. What content is allowed in the zine?
This is a SFW project, meaning that no gore or heavy violence will be allowed. Minor depictions of injuries will be allowed so long as they are approved by the mod team. Excessive swearing will also be asked to not be included in any works, though a few simple swears will be allowed with approval from the mods.Any material promoting racism, homophobia, transphobia, pedophilia, incest, or any other kind of bigotry or hate speech, will also not be allowed. How will applicants be judged?
For artists, we'll be looking at things such as style, character design, coloring (this doesn't mean all examples must be in color as black & white examples are welcome), and/or and detail. Including full illustrations with backgrounds in your application would be helpful for us to form a general opinion of your skill! For writers, we'll be looking at things such as proper grammar and spelling, your general sense of storytelling, and ability to create a compelling plot. Double checking your writing for any errors before sending in your application would be good! Please know there isn't any one particular style we're looking for from contributors. We value creativity and individuality and would love to see everything everyone has to offer!Who can apply?
This is a non-profit, SFW zine so people under 18 are allowed to apply! However it will be asked that all applicants be at least 14+.
Hi, everyone! I'm 24, she/her, and located in the USA. I love creating things and Touya's story has me in shackles so I just had to create this zine. I've been a mod of several projects and fandom events so far and I'll do my best to create an amazing zine for everyone. I look forward to working with you all!
Huni (Graphics, writer mod)
Hello! I like to write and sometimes dabble in drawing. I love the complexity of Touya's character and I'm so excited to be working on this zine with everyone!
I'm Kogi, a twenty-something year old queer gal. I'm married & have a dog with my spouse. I've contributed to a handful of fanzines since 2018 & am super stoked to be a part of this project!
